School travel advice

Driving and parking

The start and end of the school day are busy times for pedestrians and drivers outside schools.

When driving and parking near our school, please:

• ensure you park safely in school zones
• follow speed signs
• do not make U-turns or 3-point turns outside the school.

Parking on school grounds

Parents are not permitted to park inside the school carpark, as it is strictly reserved for staff use only.

For safety reasons, parents and students must not walk through the staff carpark. Please use designated pedestrian pathways at all times.

Glenhaven PS Kiss & Drop Rules (Afternoon)

Service Time: 2:55 pm – 3:10 pm
Supervised by: Principal or delegated staff member

Student Procedure

• Students must go directly to the designated seated waiting area after school.
• They must wait calmly and be ready to enter the car promptly when it arrives.
• Students should enter the car from the kerbside only, for safety.

Parent/Carer Procedure

• Remain in your vehicle at all times unless absolutely necessary to assist a young child into the car.
• Continue driving to the end of the allocated zone — do not stop halfway or block the flow of traffic.
• Only exit the vehicle briefly if you need to help your child safely into their seat, ensuring you do not cause a delay or safety hazard to others.

Parking Restrictions

• Do NOT park or leave your vehicle in the Kiss & Drop zone.
• The zone is a No Parking / No Stopping area during school pickup times.
• Fines apply for vehicles that Park in the Kiss & Drop area, Stop in designated No Stopping zones, Block traffic or pedestrian crossings

These restrictions are enforced under NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) regulations — not just school rules.

Safety Reminders

• Never call your child across the road.
• Always obey directions from staff on duty.
• Be courteous to other drivers and staff supervising the area.
